Every block of stone has a statue inside it and it is the task of the sculptor to discover it. Michelangelo
Welcome (back) to Los Alisos Middle School. This year will be my 21th in the district and my fourth as Assistant Principal. I have high expectations for students, parents, teachers, support staff, administrators, and myself as we reach toward the mission statement:
"At Los Alisos our mission is to provide students with rigorous, standards based instruction that will enable students to compete in a global society. Students will become responsible and ethical citizens within their communities while experiencing differentiated opportunities for college and career success. Students will be critical thinkers that are capable of solving real world problems through effective communication and collaboration.
Because College is not a dream, it’s a plan.
The 7 Cs: Curriculum, Conscience, Compete in Global Society, College and Career, Critical thinkers, Communication, Collaboration,Grit.
Through collaboration and cooperation, Los Alisos will be prepared to meet the rigor of Common Core, Next Generation Science Standards, and 21st Century Skills to ensure our students are prepared for college and careers.
My goal is to support Los Alisos' principal and staff as they promote engagement with professional learning communities and networks (PLCs & PLNs). This will allow our school to have multiple opportunities to interact, collaborate and compete within world communities. I will encourage positive classroom environments and reinforce firm and fair consequences. I will provide opportunities for ongoing learning in STEM, SIOP, and 21st Century Skills while continuing a focus on Common Core Standards.
Within the community, I will encourage parent engagement in their children’s education and provide resources to reinforce what their children learn at school. Parents are their children's biggest advocates when it comes to school, and we encourage them to be well informed and involved. Parents, join PTSA and ELAC. Ask your children questions every day. Celebrate their success and encourage them to work through their difficulties with the help of adults who support them.
I look forward to serving Los Alisos Middle School this year to meet its mission and ensure all students have the opportunity to learn.
Here's to an amazing new year,
